Can my pet catch a cold from sick family members?

Colds are not contagious between pets and people. Your pet could develop cold-like symptoms such as coughing and being congested, we recommend having your pet examined to determine the extent of the problem.

Do you see birds?

No we do not, but we can recommend a couple of clinics that do. Please Contact Us for more information.

How many doctors are associated with your hospital?

Two doctors and occasional relief veterinarians.

What are your hours?

Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

My cat is scratching all the furniture. What can I do?

Provide your cat a scratching post and train your cat to use it using positive reinforcement. Try clipping your cat’s nails or applying Soft Paws nail caps. As a last resort, consider declawing.

What kind of test is a heartworm test? Do I need a stool sample for the heartworm test?

A heartworm test is a blood test. Heartworm disease is transmitted by mosquitoes. You do not need a stool sample to do the heartworm test. Stool tests check for intestinal parasites.

Do you offer emergency services?

Yes, we are equipped to handle emergencies. If your pet should become injured or sick after hours or on the weekend or needs further hospitalization after hours, we would strongly recommend the local emergency clinic.

Do you perform laser surgery?

No. There are no studies that suggest laser performed surgery is preferred over using traditional scalpel blades. More importantly, we address pain management in a comprehensive manner which is much more beneficial for surgical recovery.

Do you board or groom pets?

No. We concentrate on medical and surgical care for your pet. However, we can give you names of facilities that board or groom pets.

What types of surgeries do you perform?

The most common surgeries we perform are spays, neuters, declaws and lumpectomies. If your pet does need orthopedic surgery, we do have specialists that come to our clinic to perform those types of surgery. See our “Surgery services”.

My cat is urinating outside of the litter box. What can I do?

First of all, you would want to rule out a medical problem, so we would recommend a physical exam and urinalysis. We suggest one litter box per cat in the household plus one extra litterbox and consider having a litter box on every floor of your home. Be sure to clean litter boxes daily and keep them in quiet areas. Possible options include moving litterboxes to more preferred (by the cat) areas, changing litter types, and adding more litterboxes.

Do I need an appointment or can I just walk-in?

We strongly recommend making an appointment to assure there is enough time and availability to accommodate you. There are times our clinic is very busy and the schedule is full.
